Tetebatu Rice Terrace Panorama & Walking Tour
- Walk through the rice fields and climb the banks. When you get to the top, you’ll be rewarded with a stunning view.
- Follow the path through the monkey-inhabited forest to find a hidden waterfall. After that, keep walking until you come across a very small traditional coffee shop selling a wide variety of local spices, such as nutmeg, star anise, vanilla, coffee beans and cacao.
Itinerary:
- Pick up from the hotel, and start the journey by car to Tetebatu while seeing many sights along the way, stopping at a local handicraft village with many bamboo products.
- Upon arrival, you’ll meet your guide at a local homestay & cafe and stop for a quick coffee and lunch if you’re hungry.
- During the first part of the journey, you will walk through the jungle, following a stream to a clearing where you will find rice paddy fields.
- Your guide will help you up and down the terraces. The route through the fields and terrain depends on the season. Once you reach the top of the terraces, you can admire the panoramic views and watch the farmers work the land, usually with very few other tourists in sight.
- Your guide will take you to a vantage point between some boulders and a small waterfall, from where you can see more of the scenery.
You will then walk through the forest to reach Jeruk Manis waterfall, down a flight of stairs, then through a knee-deep river. - When you reach the waterfall, you can stop, swim, take photos and rest by the water. The water is cold but will be refreshing after your walk. There is also a beruguk (gazebo seating area) at the entrance for you to rest if necessary.
- Next you will continue your journey through a small village, following local roads and trails to visit local coffee and spice plantations hidden in the forest.
- You will stop for coffee or tea and see some local & seasonal coffee and spices – Nutmeg, Cloves, White Pepper, Black Pepper, Cinnamon & Vanilla – to name a few.
- You’ll also have the opportunity to buy this local produce here, the perfect souvenir – just imagine baking a cake in your own country and using cinnamon or nutmeg that you handpicked from the jungles of Lombok.
- Next, you will visit the monkey forest and then have lunch.
- Whether returning to your hotel or staying a night in Tetebatu – ask us for recommendations and hotel bookings.
Note
Prices are based on the assumption that guests will be picked up in Mataram or Senggigi and then transferred back there. Some hotels in Lombok may charge extra or lower the price if guests wish to be picked up or dropped off elsewhere on the island. There is room for groups larger than six people, but this needs to be discussed before a reservation is made.
